Today is National Employee Appreciation Day, dedicated to honoring and celebrating employees everywhere who work tirelessly to move the ship forward. We believe there are no better employees anywhere than right here at UAB, and we want to express our profound gratitude – not just today, but every day – to all our faculty and staff, who continue to exemplify their commitment to UAB’s mission and shared values.

Even during the most challenging circumstances, our university and medical center continue to remain a stable force for those we serve – sustaining the educational experience of its students, providing for the critical needs of its patients and continuing to grow its reputation as an internationally renowned research institution. Among other top accolades, Forbes named UAB as America’s No. 1 Best Large Employer in 2021, topping a list of more than 500 organizations across dozens of industries. UAB’s extraordinary successes would not be possible without the talent, contributions and dedication of its employees.

My colleague, President Ray Watts, also shares his thanks with you.

“Our employees continue to be UAB’s most valuable resource. We have accomplished so much together, and your continued work is important and much appreciated. Thank you for all you do to serve our students, community and each other.”

In honor of National Employee Appreciation Day, I encourage you to consider the many services available to faculty and staff at no cost through UAB Human resources.

Again, I express my earnest thanks to faculty and staff here at UAB, and I look forward to the years to come.

Sincerely,

Janet May
UAB Chief Human Resources Officer
