Visiting scholar Leon Botstein to conduct performance

Leon Botstein, Ph.D., the 2014 Caroline P. and Charles W. Ireland Distinguished Visiting Scholar, will conduct a special, free performance of the Alabama Symphony Orchestra March 13. 

Botstein is the president of Bard College in Annandale, N.Y., and he also is the musical director and principal conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra, an author, scholar and editor for "The Musical Quarterly." 

For all of his pursuits, Botstein was called a smartypants by Stephen Colbert on "The Colbert Report" in 2010. The lively and lighthearted interview, focusing on a policy Botstein implemented at Bard College, can be seen here:
