Waguespack named president of the American Academy of Otolaryngology
One of the oldest medical associations in the United States, AAO-HNS represents about 12,000 physicians and allied health professionals who specialize in the treatment of the ears, nose, throat, and related structures of the head and neck.
“I am honored to have this opportunity to serve and lead the Academy at a time when opportunities abound,” Waguespack said.
Waguespack left a community-based practice to join UAB in April 2013, and he is also the otolaryngology section chief at the Birmingham VA Medical Center. Waguespack has served in a number of education and leadership roles and received many awards. He is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and served as a senior examiner for the Board from 2008 until 2012.
