Through the Small Business Innovation Research and the Small Business Technology Transfer programs, federal agencies award contracts and grants totaling about $2.3 billion annually to small businesses. More than $40 million was awarded to Alabama companies in 2012.
 
The Birmingham workshop, hosted by Birmingham Business Alliance, Alabama Launchpad and UAB, will target proposals specific to the National Institutes of Health SBIR/STTR Program. Participants will receive one-on-one writing assistance and proposal strategy from experts with decades of experience writing and reviewing SBIR/STTR proposals.
