SHS is an appointment based clinic through an Open Access scheduling system, including same-day access.

Please note, if you are going to be late for your appointment please call 934-3580 to inform the SH&W staff. If you are more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you will be marked as a “no-show” and will need to reschedule.


The Student Health & Wellness Center is located at 1714 9th Avenue South (behind the Learning Resource Center).

There is student patient parking in the lot directly in front (9th Ave. side) of the building—please ask the receptionist for a parking pass to place on the dash of your car.

Immunizations, Titer Tests, TB Tests, and HPV Vaccinations

An appointment is required and may be scheduled by either calling 205-934-3580 or by accessing the Patient Portal.

Immunization, Titer Test, and TB Skin Test appointments are scheduled from 8:00-11:30 and 1:00-4:30.

TB skin tests are not placed after 3 p.m. on Wednesdays and are not placed at all on Thursdays. The T-spot (TB blood test) is drawn Monday thru Friday from 8:00-11:30 and 1:00-4:00.

To start the HPV Vaccine (Gardasil(R)), Hepatitis A, or any other elective vaccine series, students should book an appointment with a medical provider. To complete a series, either begun at SHW or at another clinic, students should book an appointment with the immunization clinic and bring documentation with dates of prior vaccines.

For all other immunization needs, please schedule an appointment. Only one appointment is necessary to meet all of your immunization needs. Upon arrival, please let an immunization nurse know of all of your needs.

After-Hours Information

If you have an illness and need advice/assistance when Student Health & Wellness is closed (nights, weekends, and holidays), call the university paging operator at (205) 934-3411 and ask for the doctor on-call for Student Health & Wellness. This will also be the doctor on-call for UAB Family Practice.
