AppointmentsATTENTION: Due to a national shortage of Tubersol, Student Health is currently out of TB skin tests. The Jefferson County Department of Health (JCDH) has a couple hundred tests in stock (as of 10/15/13).
When those tests are depleted, students who have not met the UAB TB requirement will be required to have a blood test for TB, either a Quanteferon TB Gold available through UAB Lab (cost $135.00), or a T-Spot available at JCDH (cost $48.00 cash, debit, VISA, or Mastercard). If drawn at UAB Lab, insurance will be billed, but coverage is not guaranteed (please check with your insurance carrier). Both tests generally result in 3-5 days.
Alert: To improve access, effective Monday, August 26, 2013, SHS offers same-day appointments, with walk-in hours no longer available (however, walk-ins for immunizations, titer tests, and TB tests will continue).
