El Mito de Blaze
Hace aproximadamente veinte años, algo extraño sucedió. Era una noche tranquila de verano tranquilo. A la media noche una luz brillante iluminó la Plaza Verde de la Universidad de Alabama en Birmingham. La niebla cubría todo el campus. Los estudiantes no podían ver por las ventanas de las residencias estudiantiles. Pero, antes de que te diga qué era la luz, debes saber algunas cosas sobre la UAB.
Hace mucho tiempo, los edificios fueron construidos en tierra muy especial. Antes de que Birmingham fuera ciudad, Alabama era un famoso parque de perros para los extraterrestres. Por eso, el estado tenía muchos lagos. Es importante saber que los perros de extraterrestres echan fuego. Y no parecen perros. En realidad, son dragones.
De todos modos, los extraterrestres llegaron a Birmingham para ver si el parquet estaba todavía aquí. Cuando vieron los edificios se estaban muy asustados. Intentaron reunir a todos los dragones para salir, pero uno se escapó. Los extraterrestres se fueron y nunca volvieron.
Sin comer y beber la comida para extraterrestres, el dragón se congeló y quedó una estatua en la Plaza Verde. Al próximo día, todo el mundo preguntó cómo llegó la estatua allí. Tenía un collar alrededor de su cuello que decía “BLAZE”. Hoy en día, la estatua todavía está allí y por eso nos llamamos los blazers.
The Myth of Blaze
About twenty years ago, something very strange happened. It was a peaceful summer night. At midnight, a bright light lit up The Green on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Fog covered the campus. Not even the students could see out of the dorm rooms. But before I tell you what the light was, you should know some things about UAB.
A long time ago, the buildings were built on very special land. Before Birmingham was even a city, the state of Alabama was covered in lakes. It was actually a very famous dog park for nearby aliens. However, it is important to know that Alien dogs breathe fire and look nothing like regular dogs. Really, they are dragons. That is why Alabama had so many lakes, to put out the fire.
Anyway, the aliens came to Birmingham, to see if the park was still here. When they saw what was here, they became very afraid. They tried to gather their dragon pets to leave, but one escaped. The aliens left and never came back.
Without the proper alien food and drink, any dragon will start to die and freeze. The dragon became a statue in The Green. The next day, everyone wondered where the statue came from. It was a collar around its neck that said “BLAZE”. Even today, the statue is still there and the students of UAB call themselves the Blazers.
