GETTING STARTED

Registering with Disability Support Services will involve completing the steps outlined below.

DSS staff is available at any point during the registration process, or prior to initiating the process, to discuss your needs. 1. Application

First, complete the DSS Application to Receive Accommodations, which is available through the DSS Student Portal. In order to complete the application, you must have a Blazer ID and password.

2. Documentation of Disability

Submit documentation of your disability to DSS.This documentation can be submitted with your application, email, fax, or you can bring in person.

These guidelines may be shared with the person or agency responsible for providing DSS with documentation of your disability.

Please note: Your application will not move to step three if documentation is not uploaded with your application.

3. Accommodation Planning

Once DSS has received and reviewed your application and documentation, you will be contacted to schedule an Accommodation Planning Meeting. During this appointment, you will meet with a DSS staff member to discuss individual needs, specific accommodation requests and how your academic functioning is impacted by your disability.

4. Accommodation Orientation

Once all documentation and eligibility requirements are met, you will attend an Accommodation Orientation either in person with a DSS staff member or through a self-guided online orientation to review your accommodations. During the orientation, you will also review the process of sending accommodation letters to your instructors each semester and navigating the DSS Portal.

5. Meet with Instructors

Meet briefly with instructors during office hours or by appointment to discuss a plan for receiving accommodations in each course. Instructors cannot begin providing accommodations until you have submitted your accommodation letters.

6. Follow up with DDS as Needed

Regularly check the DSS Online Portal and your Blazer email for important reminders from our office. Promptly contact your Case Manager if you have questions or concerns. The DSS Student Handbook also contains additional details.
