The Pathfinders provide one-onone consultations with students looking to get more involved or group consultations for students wanting to create their own student organization. They additionally support student organizations as a primary resource for Engage support and other organizational benefits.

  • The UAB Pathfinder Program is a diverse group of student leaders providing peer-to-peer mentoring and guidance for all students at UAB. An ideal Pathfinder is a student who is has been consistently involved on campus in their time at UAB, have previous experIence of working with a team, and have strong problem solving and communication capabilities to serve as a leader.

    The UAB Pathfinders are a group of self-starters who strive to exemplify respect in each interaction we have. By prioritizing organization, we are able to dedicate our time to cultivating campus connections.

    COLLABORATION
    We are a diverse group spanning multiple offices. We understand the importance of working together and being inclusive of different perspectives.

    ENGAGEMENT
    We seek to connect students to on-campus and community-based opportunities. By understanding the available resources and utlizing our knowledge about involvement, we are able to help students actively participate in the UAB student experience.

    INTENTIONALITY
    We are self motivated students who are deliberate and creative in our decision making.

    Pathfinder Responsibilities

    • Provide one-on-one consultation for students.
    • Highlight registered student organizations and other UAB engagement opportunities.
    • Highlight and market the benefits of being engaged at UAB.
    • Plan, implement, and assess the fall and spring Student Involvement Fairs, in conjunction with Student Involvement and Leadership.
    • Participate in recruitment/orientation events for the University, to highlight engagement opportunities for potential and incoming students.
    • Create tabling events throughout the fall and spring semesters to highlight engagement opportunities at UAB.
    • Create, implement, and assess workshops upon request regarding ways to be engaged at UAB.

    The application for the 2023 -2024 UAB Pathfinder is now open on Handshake. The application deadline is Monday, March 20, 2023 at 11:59pm. Interviews will be from March 27th - 31st. Decisions will be sent out the first week of April.
