Captain Chad Boyer joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Blazer Battalion in the spring of 2021. He previously served as the commander of the 545th Military Police Detachment, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

CPT Chad Boyer was born on December 28th, 1990, in Akron, Ohio. He graduated Cum Laude from Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree, with Special Honors, in Criminal Justice, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Military Police Corps through Jacksonville State’s ROTC program in May 2015.

Upon completion of the Military Police Basic Officer Leaders Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, in October 2015, then 2LT Boyer was attached to the 5th MP BN (CID), Kleber Kaserne, Germany as the Battalion S2/ Assistant S3. On 1 Nov 2016, 1LT Boyer was assigned to the 3rd PLT, 92D MP CO, 709th MP BN, where he served as the Platoon Leader for 3rd Platoon “Dead Rabbits”, Smith Barracks, Baumholder, Germany. Later, then 1LT Boyer served as the Company Executive Officer of the 92d MP Company and oversaw the shift from Garrison Policing into a Combat Support Military Police role leading to his entire company deploying to Poland (Summer 2017) as part of Exercise Saber Strike, Atlantic Resolve. Following graduation of Military Police Captains Career Course, he served as the commander of the 545th Military Police Detachment at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska where he served in a Law Enforcement role as a commander and liaison between the Army Military Police and Air Force Security Forces.

CPT Boyer’s military awards include the Army Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal(2x), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas service ribbon(2x), the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. His Badges includes the Basic Army Instructor Badge and the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency, at the Silver Level Standard.

Education: BS in Criminal Justice, MA in Higher Education Administration.

CPT Boyer currently serves as the APMS of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Personally, he is married with 3 daughters (Kinsley – 7, Emery – 5, Aubrey - 2). He enjoys hunting, reading, College football, and spending time with family.
