Verna Keith, Ph.D.Verna Keith, Ph.D., professor and chair of the Department of Sociology, served as a co-editor of Social Psychology Quarterly's special issue on race, racism, and discrimination. Social Psychology Quarterly (SPQ) is an official journal from the American Sociological Association. Keith is also on the editorial board of SPQ.

“Editing the special issue was both exhilarating and challenging,” said Keith. “Exhilarating because it offered an opportunity to read outstanding social psychological research on race relations in the contemporary United States, produced by scholars from diverse range of institutions, backgrounds, and methodological approaches. Challenging because my co-editors had to make hard choices when so many papers were deserving of publication.”

In addition to serving as co-editor, Keith co-authored an editorial for the issue titled, "Drinking from a Full Cup: Race, Racism, and Discrimination in Contemporary Social Psychological Research." In the piece, the authors note that they “selected pieces that use social psychological theories and methods to broaden our understanding of how race operates in contemporary society.”

The special issue also includes introductions by Lawrence D. Bobo and co-editors Corey D. Fields and Justine E. Tinkler.
