Accreditation

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, doctorate, and professional degrees.

 Do I meet the Admission Requirements?

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited U.S. College or University
  • NO GRE/GMAT REQUIRED from students with qualifying degrees from U.S. Colleges or Universities
  • Original transcripts from all colleges and universities attended since high school must be sent directly to the UAB Graduate School (detailed instructions are included during the online application process)
  • Minimum undergraduate prerequisites or equivalent:
    o  Structural Analysis of Elastic Structures
    o  Reinforced Concrete Design
    o  Principles of Steel Design
  • International students who do not have a degree from an accredited U.S. institution are required to submit GRE and TOEFL scores.
  • Proper computer equipment and high speed internet direct access required
  • All prospective students must demonstrate computer skills with a strong willingness to improve computer software skills and online communications abilities.
  • All applicants must pass a personal interview with the Program Director and/or Assistant Director. Interviews will be live, phone or via Skype.
