There will be a Faculty Senate meeting on Tuesday, February 12th from 7:30-9:15 am in Volker Hall, room 302 at 1670 University Blvd.

Chair of the Faculty, Jamey Worrell, will give his monthly report. President Watts will give his Winter Update along with Q&A and faculty collaboration. Lori McMahon, Dean of the Graduate School, will present a collaboration session regarding a graduate student withdrawal policy that is in the works. Q&A, collaboration, and faculty advisement time will be included in each session.

The first reading and discussion of proposed changes to the UAB Faculty Handbook will be led by Dan Givan, chair of the Faculty Policies & Procedures Committee. Mike Wyss, Interim UAB Faculty Ombuds, will share information regarding the role of the Ombuds and answer questions. Provost Benoit will answer any questions regarding the Quarterly Ethics Hotline and Faculty Grievances Report.

Senate Committee Chairs will report on committee activities. Important information coming out of select university-wide committees will be shared. An open forum time for faculty to raise concerns, ideas and suggestions are also on the agenda.

A full agenda is available on the Faculty Senate document website. Attendance is open to all UAB faculty, students and staff. Attendees are free to come and go as their schedule allows. Breakfast refreshments will be available starting at 7 am.

If you need parking for the meeting, you may park in Lot 5A, across University Blvd from the Rec Center, between Volker Hall and the Hill Student Center. Enter on 16th street (side near Volker Hall). Take a ticket when you enter the lot and keep your ticket in your car. Then, at the meeting, please take a parking voucher, available next to the sign-in sheet. You will need both the ticket and the voucher to exit the lot without paying.
