A hacker group claims it is selling user passwords from the stolen databases of more than 10 companies — including 3 million user records from the Chronicle of Higher Education.

If you have an account with the Chronicle for Higher Education or any of the other companies listed, UAB IT recommends changing your password immediately.

If you re-use passwords for any of your accounts — a practice that is discouraged — UAB IT also recommends changing your passwords for those other accounts.

Instead of re-using passwords for different accounts, choose different passwords or even use a password manager. UAB campus employees, faculty and students have free access to Keeper, a password management tool that creates and maintains all of your passwords for you, so you only have to remember one master password for your Keeper vault.
