On Friday, Sept. 25, at 11 p.m., UAB IT will be activating new access procedures on the Vera Mail Relay service. After this date, devices or applications that require a mail relay will need an exception to connect and relay email.

Vera Mail Relay is service offered to UAB staff and faculty for relaying email from devices or systems without a dedicated mail client or mailbox. Common examples are a multifunction scanner/copier that emails scanned images to users or a server that needs to send notifications to admins.

To minimize the impact of this change to any existing devices or services, connections made to Vera in the past 6 months has been added to the exception list and the owners of those exceptions have been notified.
