The overarching goal of the Clinical & Population Health Sciences Program is to generate knowledge and translate discoveries that enhance health and wellness in the management of chronic diseases under the purview of generalist physicians, reaching individuals, communities, and populations.

  • Established with joint support from the Divisions of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Preventive Medicine (DOPM)

  • Primary purpose is to increase the number of physician-researchers who are independent investigators

  • Leverages the existing research infrastructure housed in DOPM and the excellence in education and clinical service found in GIM, to create an outstanding, integrated environment for academic generalists dedicated to a research career

  • Creates synergy and facilitates relationships across GIM and DOPM, providing increased opportunities for scholarship in research, education and service for current faculty in both divisions
