Each year millions of people are diagnosed with gastrointestinal disorders ranging in complexity and severity, but all require treatment and expertise of trained and experienced gastroenterologists.  Our division meets patients’ needs by providing compassionate, competent and professional care to individuals suffering from all gastrointestinal and liver related diseases.

We operate inpatient and consultative services at University Hospital and Birmingham VA Medical Center. Outpatient clinics are held at The Kirklin Clinic, UAB Highlands, and Birmingham VA Medical Center.

Our division utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment procedures to care for patients. We employ the services of our expert physicians in the UAB Liver Center, IBD Clinic, and The Basil I. Hirschowitz Endoscopic Excellence to diagnose and treat gastrointestinal and liver-related disorders, and are proud to work with outstanding colleagues in Gastrointestinal Surgery, Radiology and Pathology.
