Amy Warriner, M.D.Amy Warriner, M.D.UAB Comprehensive Diabetes Center Scientist and Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism Professor Amy Warriner, M.D., was a special guest on the Arthritis Foundation’s Live Yes! with Arthritis podcast where she discussed tips for living with diabetes and arthritis.

The Arthritis Foundation is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis, which affects nearly 60 million adults and children in the U.S.

Type 2 diabetes and osteoarthritis are among the top two chronic conditions affecting people in the U.S. According to the Arthritis Foundation, as many as half of people with osteoarthritis have Type 2 diabetes.

Warriner, an endocrinologist who specializes in diabetes and weight management, discussed how Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are linked to osteoarthritis as well as autoimmune forms of arthritis. She also discussed new weight management medications and what people living with both diabetes and arthritis can do to help manage the diseases.
