AACEM brings together leaders of academic departments of emergency medicine and works to advance leadership, education, research, and excellence across the specialty. Through professional development, collaboration, and the exchange of best practices, the organization supports current and emerging leaders in academic emergency medicine.

Now in its 14th year, AACEM’s Chair Development Program selected an exclusive class of just 19 participants for its 2027–2028 cohort. The program prepares leaders in academic emergency medicine through training in executive governance, academic administration, and strategic departmental management, while providing opportunities to build lasting connections with peers from institutions across the country.

“I’m honored to be selected for the AACEM Chair Development Program and to have the opportunity to learn alongside academic emergency medicine leaders from across the country,” Edwards said. “I look forward to gaining new perspectives and strategies that will strengthen my leadership and help us continue to grow and advance the Department of Emergency Medicine at UAB.”
