Headshot of Warner Huh, Ph.D.Warner Huh, M.D., chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, has been named deputy chief physician executive of UAB Health System and vice president of the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation (UAHSF), effective Oct. 1.

In his new role, Huh will help lead UAB Medicine's four system service lines: cardiovascular, orthopaedics, primary care and women's health. He will also support UAB Hospital-focused service lines for cancer, neurosciences and solid organ transplant, overseeing clinical strategy, quality, patient safety and care delivery. As vice president of UAHSF, he will also serve as the voice of the foundation's clinical chairs on practice matters.

Huh will share leadership of the service lines with Jordan DeMoss, who has been named system vice president of service lines. The two will lead as a dyad, a model in which a physician leader and an administrative leader are jointly accountable for the same area, so that clinical and business perspectives shape decisions from the start. The partnership builds on their work together in the cancer service line, where Huh served as senior medical officer.

Huh will continue to serve as chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a role he has held since 2020. He joined the UAB faculty in 2002 after completing his fellowship at UAB and has since served as director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, vice chair of Gynecology, senior medical officer of the cancer service line and senior adviser to the UAB O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center.

An internationally recognized researcher in HPV-related disease and gynecologic cancer prevention, Huh has authored more than 300 publications. He is past president of both the Society of Gynecologic Oncology and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. In 2024, he earned a master's degree in health administration through UAB's executive program.

Colleagues know Huh as a leader who invests in his team, recognizing the work of his faculty and staff and giving them room to grow. He brings that same care and attention to his patients.

"Every patient deserves outstanding care across our tertiary and community sites, and I'm excited to help make that a reality," Huh said. "Partnering with Jordan in this dyad role brings physician and administrative perspectives together from the start, and I look forward to what we can accomplish for our patients and teams as UAB Medicine grows."
