What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
Hymes-Green: I pursued a career in anesthesiology because of my love for critical thinking and hands-on patient care. When I was selecting a specialty in medical school, I thought about the direct impact anesthesiologists have on patients, and I knew it was the field I wanted to pursue.
What is your primary area of expertise within your field, and what sparked your passion for it?
Hymes-Green: My primary area of expertise is regional anesthesia and acute pain. My passion for this work stems from my desire to enhance the patient's surgical experience. Regional anesthesia is tailored to each patient's individual needs, improving their overall outcomes while reducing adverse effects.
What aspects of your new role here are you most excited about?
Hymes-Green: I am most excited about the opportunity to work with amazing colleagues and residents.
What are your goals for making an impact through both your teaching and patient care in this role?
Hymes-Green: My goal is to provide each patient with a positive experience. For most patients, the perioperative process is a vulnerable and daunting encounter. Through teaching, I can share my knowledge, skills, and passion with the next generation of physicians so that we can continue to improve this experience for years to come.
