Carter to chair steering committee for AAMC Group on Regional Medical Campuses

Carter, Ph.D., director of Medical Education and Students Services for the UAB School of Medicine Huntsville Regional Medical Campus (HRMC), has been named chair of the Steering Committee for the Association of American Medical Colleges' Group on Regional Medical Campuses.

Carter, who has been at the HRMC since 2003, is an assistant professor in the Department of Medical Education.  She is also a member of the Interim Admissions Leadership Team, working closely with two other faculty leaders and the admissions director to guide the admissions process during the national search for a new associate dean for Admissions. 

The Group on Regional Medical Campuses (GRMC) recognizes the wide range of responsibilities inherent in providing quality medical programs on regional campuses. The GRMC provides a forum to explore and promote common interests of regional campuses and advocates for the continued development of academic medical programs at regional campuses. Carter has been active in the GRMC for several years, serving on its planning committee since 2011 (chair 2014-2016) and as the Southern Region representative on its steering committee since 2013.

Carter completed her undergraduate and graduate coursework at Auburn University, and received her Ph.D. from Kansas State University.
