Kimberlin headshot‘Are the COVID-19 vaccines safe? When will children be eligible for vaccination? What about new COVID variants—what do they mean for the future?’ are just a few of the many questions about vaccines circulating right now.

And as the questions surrounding COVID-19 and vaccinations rise, so does the misinformation surrounding the virus, vaccines, and children. With fiction as prevalent as fact, many may be wondering how to sift through the vast amount of informationto find what is honest, accurate, and informed.

“There’s an awful lot of information on social media, some TV stations, and so forth, and it really doesn’t help if you’re getting inaccurate information. You need the facts,” said David Kimberlin, M.D., co-director of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, who holds a joint appointment at Children’s of Alabama.

A medical professional with extensive experience, Kimberlin holds the Sergio Stagno, M.D., Endowed Chair in Pediatric Infectious Diseases, is president of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and serves as editor of the AAP Red Book Report of Committee on Infectious Disease, Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease.

During the month of February, which is also International Prenatal Infection Prevention Month, Kimberlin answers questions on COVID-19 and vaccines concerning children. Watch the full interview with Kimberlin here:
