Eighteen outstanding faculty members have been named winners of the 2021 Dean’s Excellence Awards. This honor recognizes exceptional contributions by School of Medicine faculty members in the areas of teaching, research, service, mentorship, and diversity.
Each year, faculty are nominated by their faculty peers for their contributions to the School of Medicine, then selected in a peer-review process.
"I am happy to announce the winners of this year’s Dean's Excellence Awards," says Selwyn M. Vickers, M.D., FACS, senior vice president for Medicine and dean of the School of Medicine.
"These awards recognize the exceptional work done by our faculty across key mission areas. Every individual who was selected has exemplified an immeasurable impact on the School of Medicine and the Birmingham community at-large. During a year of hardships, each winner demonstrated exceptional efforts, contributing to excellence in our enterprise.”
