Dr. Boni Elewski, professor and chair of the UAB Heersink School of Medicine Department of Dermatology, was awarded the 2023 Outstanding Educator in Psoriatic Disease Award by the National Psoriasis Foundation and the Medical Professionals Awards Committee. This award recognizes her outstanding efforts on behalf of the psoriatic disease community and her dedication to the Foundation’s mission to drive efforts to cure psoriatic disease and improve the lives of those affected.
Elewski’s research interests include diagnosing and treating acne, alopecia, atopic dermatitis, cutaneous fungal infections, hidradenitis suppurativa, nail disease, psoriasis, and rosacea. She has been the principal investigator of numerous clinical research projects, many of which have been industry-sponsored or investigator-initiated clinical trials. Elewski, a world-renowned expert dermatologist and teacher, has successfully recruited psoriasis patients for numerous clinical trials.
Elewski has authored more than 300 publications throughout her clinical career and delivered hundreds of medical lectures to dermatologists, physicians, residents, and non-physician providers worldwide. Her excellence and commitment to the training and education of dermatology residents are known nationwide.
