The University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery Kristen Lamb, PA-C, and Amber Virdell, patient services coordinator at The Kirklin Clinic, have been named UAB Medicine 2026 Patient Experience Heroes.
Selected by UAB’s Office of Patient Experience and Engagement (OPXE) during Patient Experience Week, recipients of this award excel in both patient care and amongst their colleagues, showing compassion and work ethic that exceed expectations. Recipients are also distinguished by their commitment to UAB Medicine’s Core Values: Always Care, Own it, Work Together and Do Right.
This is Lamb’s second recognition by the Office of Patient Experience and Engagement, being named a patient experience leader in 2025 along with 12 other neurosurgery providers.
