Richard Knott has joined the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Neurosurgery as a human resources partner generalist, bringing with him more than 34 years of distinguished active-duty service in the United States Army.
Knott is a veteran leader with extensive experience in organizational development and personnel management. He built his career around cultivating high-performing teams and strengthening workplace culture. Throughout his military service, he developed expertise in leadership, talent development and mission-driven operations. He now applies these skills to supporting employees and advancing organizational excellence.
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Knott brings a strong commitment to service, integrity and continuous improvement to his work. He approaches every role with professionalism, empathy and a people-first mindset, grounded in his passion for supporting individuals and building effective, resilient teams.
Knott is proudly married and the father of two adult children. He is excited to continue serving others in his new role at UAB and contributing to a collaborative, supportive workplace environment.
