The joint care team plays a vital role in delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals undergoing orthopaedic surgery, from hip and knee replacement to complex joint conditions across the continuum of care. Every day, this multidisciplinary group works collaboratively to support patients before, during and after surgery, ensuring safe, coordinated and compassionate care at every step of the journey.

Over the past year, the joints service line has continued to evolve, bringing together experienced team members and new faces alike, all united by a shared commitment to improving outcomes and enhancing the patient experience.

Advanced Practice Providers

  • Kristen Cravens, CRNP, 10-year department veteran who has supported the joints service line throughout her tenure
  • Emily Southall, PA-C, recently joined the team with several years of prior experience specializing in joint care.
  • Chris Ford, CRNP, recently transitioned from inpatient trauma to the joints team

Optimization Clinic

  • Amy Jackson, RN and Rachel Adair, NP, are the newest members to join the joints team in the Optimization clinic
  • Valerie Ackman, PA-C, and Alyssa Rice, CRNP, support patient care across the Joints service line. Alyssa also assists with patient optimization at the St. Vincent’s 119 satellite clinic.

  • Jennifer Sherbet, RN, and Holly Rush, RN, serve as clinical care coordinators for Dr. Scott Mabry and Dr. Oliver Scotting, respectively. Holly is also a surgeon coordinator and one of the longest-standing members of the Joints team.
  • Catey Butterworth, BSN, RN, recently joined as our new Joint Quality Navigator, to help guide team operations, quality initiatives, and ongoing program development.

What’s ahead for joints

While some initiatives are still in early development, the team continues to explore enhancements aimed at strengthening the joint replacement experience, including:

  • Expanded patient education efforts
  • Workflow improvements across the perioperative process
  • Continued growth of the Orthopaedic Optimization Clinic

As these efforts take shape, communication and collaboration remain central to keeping all stakeholders informed and aligned.

Inside Orthopaedics marks the launch of a new quarterly staff and faculty spotlight series. Each edition will highlight a different group within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery by celebrating the people, partnerships, and dedication that make exceptional patient care possible every day.
