The Department of Pathology is pleased to announce the appointment of Neda Wick, M.D., an assistant professor in the Division of Neuropathology, as program director of the department’s residency program, effective October 6, 2026.
Wick joined the department in 2023 after completing her fellowship in neuropathology from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Prior to this, she also earned her medical degree and pursued her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Her medical degree was awarded with a Distinction in Medical Education, and she subsequently served as both chair of the UT Southwestern Chief Resident Council and as chief resident in the Department of Pathology.
Wick’s passion for education is reflected in her extensive involvement in teaching and course development. She served as course director for the Medical Education Elective and as track director for the Residency Essentials: Pathology Track at UT Southwestern. Wick has contributed to curriculum development, designed enrichment electives, and played a pivotal role in the development of the four-year longitudinal Medical Education Track and Distinction. In addition, she served a two-year term as the resident member on the Pathology Review Committee of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and representative on the American Board of Pathology Resident and Fellow Advisory Committee.
Since joining UAB, Wick has been instrumental in numerous education roles. She has served as a contributor and course director of numerous courses in the Heersink School of Medicine and UAB Graduate Biomedical Sciences Doctoral Training Program, including MS2 Neuroscience, MS3 Neuropathology Elective, Neuroscience Theme Summer Seminar Series, Introduction to Pathobiology, Pathobiology of Cancer, and Professional Development and Laboratory Management. Wick directs the Residency Professional Development and Surgical Neuropathology rotations, in addition to the Neuropathology Fellowship Surgical Neuropathology Rotation. She is co-director of the Neuroscience Theme in Graduate Biomedical Sciences, and she has served as associate program director in the UAB Pathology residency program since 2024. As faculty, she now serves as a representative on the American Board of Pathology Diplomate Advisory Committee.
Wick assumes the role from Rance Chadwick Siniard, M.D., an associate professor in the Division of Laboratory Medicine. Siniard served as program director since 2025. Brandi McCleskey, M.D., Vice Chair for Education, and an associate professor in the Division of Forensic Pathology, and Emily Reisenbichler, M.D., a professor in the Division of Women’s Health, will serve as associate program directors alongside Wick.
“Dr. Wick has already had a profound impact on our trainees and medical students,” said Cristina Magi-Galluzzi, M.D., Ph.D., Robert and Ruth Anderson Endowed Professor. “I have no doubt she will be an excellent program director for our residency program, and I wish her the very best in this esteemed new role.”
