Picture of Buse Baykoca-Arslan, M.D.Buse Baykoca-Arslan, M.D., first-year fellow in the Division of Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine, has received the 2025-2026 Spring Pediatric Research Roundtable and Fellow Core Conference Attendance Award.

The award recognizes pediatric fellows who demonstrate exceptional commitment to professional development through attendance at the Fellows’ Research Roundtable and Fellows’ Core Educational Series. Recipients are selected based on having one of the highest combined attendance percentages during the award period.

The Fellows’ Research Roundtable was established to promote interdisciplinary discussion of research-related topics across divisions and departments. Sessions feature presentations spanning a broad range of child health research areas, including basic science, clinical investigation, public health, health systems research and medical humanities. The discussions foster collaboration and support the academic mission of the UAB Department of Pediatrics.

The Fellows’ Core Educational Series was created to supplement fellowship training through educational programming that spans subspecialties. Topics include research, career development, education, teaching and presentation skills, cultural competency, diversity, inclusion, equity, communication, advocacy and leadership.

As part of the award, Baykoca-Arslan will receive a departmental travel award to attend a scientific meeting of her choice within the continental United States.

The Department of Pediatrics congratulates Baykoca-Arslan on this achievement and thanks her for her dedication to professional development and participation in departmental educational programs.
