Cron, M.D., Ph.D., professor in the Division of Pediatric Rheumatology, has been elected to serve on the Executive Committee of the Section on Rheumatology (SORh) within the American Academy of Pediatrics.

His term will begin November 1, 2026 and continue through October 31, 2029. The Section on Rheumatology works to promote optimal care for pediatric patients with rheumatologic autoimmune, autoinflammatory and musculoskeletal conditions through collaborative, multidisciplinary education, advocacy and high-quality care.

Cron has been widely recognized for his contributions to the field. In 2021, he received the American Academy of Pediatrics James T. Cassidy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Pediatric Rheumatology, one of the specialty’s highest honors.

“Having previously received the 2021 AAP James T. Cassidy Award, I am deeply honored to be chosen to serve with my colleagues on the AAP Section on Rheumatology Executive Committee and contribute to the advocacy for our patients,” said Cron.

Cron’s election reflects his longstanding commitment to advancing pediatric rheumatology at both the institutional and national levels. In this role, he will collaborate with colleagues across the country to help guide priorities that support clinical care, education and advocacy efforts for children with complex rheumatologic conditions.

Please join the department in congratulating Dr. Cron on this well-deserved achievement and continued leadership in pediatric rheumatology.
