The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce that Adolfo Molina, M.D., MSHQS, associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, has been named the W. Michael Warren Endowed Chair of Improvement Science.
The endowed chair recognizes Molina’s contributions to quality improvement and patient safety and supports continued advancement of improvement science across the department.
“Being named the W. Michael Warren Endowed Chair of Improvement Science is an incredible honor and one that I never expected,” said Molina. “Personally, I’m deeply grateful to have even been considered for this opportunity.”
Molina said the appointment also reflects the many mentors, colleagues and teams who have shaped his career.
“Professionally, it is a meaningful recognition of the mentors, colleagues and teams who have invested in me and collaborated with me over the years,” he said.
Looking ahead, Molina hopes the appointment will strengthen collaboration between the Department of Pediatrics and Children’s of Alabama while expanding opportunities for faculty, trainees, nurses and interdisciplinary team members to advance quality improvement and patient safety.
“By continuing to invest in faculty development, collaboration and rigorous quality improvement, I believe we can meaningfully move the needle in delivering safer, higher-quality and more equitable care for every child and family we serve,” said Molina.
