The AKI & CRRT conference is the leading national meeting for Critical Care Nephrology in the United States, bringing together experts focused on advancing research, education and clinical care for patients with acute kidney injury.

Odum was recognized for his abstract, “The Selective Cytopheretic Device Induces Monocyte Phenotype Switching Towards an Anti-Inflammatory, Reparative Phenotype,” which highlights innovative research aimed at improving outcomes for critically ill pediatric patients.

“Receiving this honor is a testament to the incredible mentorship in Critical Care Nephrology that I have received here at UAB through the UAB-UCSD O’Brien Center for Acute Kidney Injury,” said Odum. “It represents team success and continues to elevate UAB’s recognition as a leader in Critical Care and Nephrology training programs, research achievements and clinical excellence.”

“I am especially grateful for the mentorship I have received from colleagues in the Department of Medicine, including Drs. Anupam Agarwal and Javier Neyra, as well as Dr. David Askenazi in the Department of Pediatrics,” said Odum.

This national recognition highlights the continued contributions of UAB faculty in advancing pediatric critical care research and improving care for children with complex medical conditions.
