Mary Margaret Barr, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes, earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. Dr. Barr completed her residency in general pediatrics at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and she completed her pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. Her clinical interests include caring for children with a broad range of endocrine disorders, with particular interests in pubertal development, thyroid disease, and diabetes. My goal is to provide holistic, patient-centered care that supports the long-term health and well-being of youth with diabetes and other chronic endocrine conditions.
Kulsajan Bhatia, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Neonatology earned his medical degree from Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, in Chandigarh, India. Dr. Bhatia completed his residency in general pediatrics at the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University in Brooklyn, NY, and his fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, in Birmingham, AL. His clinical interests include neonatal cardiac hemodynamics, targeted neonatal echocardiography, point-of-care ultrasound, pulmonary hypertension, and the cardiopulmonary management of extremely premature and critically ill infants. His research focuses on integrating echocardiography, electrical impedance tomography, continuous physiologic monitoring and biomarkers to develop precision-based models of neonatal care. He is also involved in hybrid clinical and translational research examining bronchopulmonary dysplasia and pulmonary hypertension, with an emphasis on pulmonary vascular remodeling, mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammation, oxidative stress, and potential therapeutic interventions.
Adam Gailani, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine in Memphis, TN. Dr. Gailani completed his residency in general pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH and he completed his pediatric infectious Diseases fellowship at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. He also obtained an MPH from Vanderbilt University. His clinical interests include the treatment and prevention of childhood infectious diseases in both the immunocompetent and immunocompromised populations. His research interests include surveillance, diagnostic and treatment studies of common infections in children, as well as identifying factors that influence disease severity of these infections.
Brian Murphy, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Critical Care, earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, KS. Dr. Murphy completed his residency in general pediatrics at University of Alabama at Birmingham in Birmingham, AL. His clinical interests include quality improvement, organ support technologies and POC ultrasound to aid in precision medicine.
Elad Resnick, M.D., assistant professor in the Division of Pediatric Nephrology, earned his medical degree from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel. Dr. Resnick completed his residency in general pediatrics at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, Israel and he completed his pediatric nephrology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL. His clinical interests include neonatal, nephrology, kidney transplantation and onco-nephrology.
