The department continues to make meaningful progress on quality initiatives focused on improving efficiency, consistency, and patient care. Recent enhancements include updates to treatment planning, patient scheduling, and dosimetry workflows.

“I am very proud of the work that the quality team has done this year to implement processes that result in increased treatment efficiency and planning turnaround time,” said D. Hunter Boggs, M.D. “We are looking forward to further streamlining our processes in 2026 to improve patient experience and timely initiation of radiation therapy.”

Key improvements include new signing processes for treatment planning bundles, a surge plan to support better machine distribution, and co-signature requirements for simulation orders. Updated imaging guidelines have also been implemented, along with a team-based tracking system to strengthen oversight of quality programs.

Several initiatives are currently underway, including the transition to Epic and the development of a paperless system. The department remains focused on ongoing improvements to turnaround times and patient intervals as part of its commitment to continuous quality improvement in 2026.
