Matthew Trotta, M.D., PGY2, joined the UAB Department of Radiation Oncology in July 2025. He is originally from Pittsburgh. He earned his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Ohio State University and completed medical school at West Virginia University.

What do you like to do when you’re not at work? 

Trotta: I like to golf, watch sports (especially college football), and walk my dog. 

What was your first job? 

Trotta: My first job was a lifeguard in Seven Fields, Pennsylvania. 

If you could do any other job, what would it be? 

Trotta: Sports broadcasting or sports talk radio.
