Effective July 1, 2026, Jordan Perchik, M.D., assistant professor in the Department of Radiology, has been appointed director of the Human Imaging (HUMI) Core Facility and chair of the Radiology Data Safety Monitoring Board.

Perchik succeeds Junaid Raja, M.D., MSPH, FACP. The department extends its sincere appreciation to Raja for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and stewardship of the HUMI Core during his tenure.

Perchik earned a bachelor's degree from Rhodes College and a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. He completed a diagnostic radiology residency at UAB, where he served as chief resident, followed by a fellowship in abdominal imaging and imaging informatics. He joined the UAB faculty in 2023.

Perchik's academic interests include imaging informatics, artificial intelligence in radiology, medical education, and clinical abdominal imaging. He serves on multiple artificial intelligence and informatics committees within the Society of Abdominal Radiology, the Association of University Radiologists, and the Alabama Academy of Radiology.

As director of the Human Imaging Core Facility, Perchik will provide strategic leadership for the HUMI Core, supporting investigators across UAB by advancing high-quality imaging research, promoting collaboration, and ensuring the continued excellence of the core's research infrastructure. As chair of the Radiology Data Safety Monitoring Board, he will oversee the review and monitoring of imaging research protocols to support the safe and ethical conduct of clinical research.

The Department of Radiology is excited to welcome Perchik to these leadership roles and looks forward to his continued contributions to the growth of the Human Imaging Core and the advancement of multidisciplinary imaging research across UAB and the O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center.
