The UAB Heersink School of Medicine's AOA chapter may elect up to 25 residents and fellows annually. Candidates are selected based on merit, with criteria that include academic achievement, research and scholarship, leadership, professionalism, and service to the school and community.
"This honor is a testament to Dr. Burge’s work ethic and outstanding dedication to the residency program, as a whole," said Britney Corey, M.D., MACM, Program Director of the General Surgery Residency. "She brings excellence to her work every day, and her AOA election is a well-deserved milestone in what will be a remarkable surgical career."
