katrina edmondThe Department of Urology is proud to spotlight Katrina Edmond Taylor, an education administrator in the department, whose energy, organization, and passion for people make a meaningful impact.

Taylor was raised in Mobile, Alabama, though she was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia. As an education administrator, she works closely with residents, faculty, and staff to support Urology's educational mission.

What she enjoys most about her work is the people she serves every day.

“We come together as a team to help make Urology the best that it can be,” Taylor shared.

“Working with Katrina is a great experience because she is diligent, smart, and dependable,” said Valencia Jones, executive assistant in the Department of Urology. “She excels in organizing events and scheduling campus visitors, while also creating clear flyers and detailed itineraries. Katrina is kind and a true team player who consistently supports the team’s success.”

Taylor shares what she enjoys most about her work along with the passions and experiences that shape her both inside and outside the department.

Taylor: I love interacting with our future leaders in Urology. Our urology residents keep us on our toes but help us see the future in present time.

Taylor: My favorite hobbies include but are not limited to designing and doing my own nails, creating home decor for the holidays, making my own body butter, and being a makeup artist for close friends.

Who or what inspires you in your personal life?

Taylor: My husband, my mom, and my sisters inspire me. Honorable mention to my aunt, who motivated me to pursue my doctorate degree.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you?

Taylor: I just finished my first semester in the Health Promotion Doctoral Program in the School of Education and Human Sciences. I am active in the community, being that I was Vice President of a Young Professionals Board, and I am a provisional member of Junior League Birmingham.

Taylor: It would be “I’m That Girl” by Beyonce. I’m a proud member of the Beyhive.
