Committed to the advancement of female reproductive healthcare.

Since its formation in 1945, the UAB Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology has been dedicated to improving the lives of the women that we serve through excellence in clinical care, research and our training programs that educate the women’s health providers of the future. The Department is a national leader in obstetrics and gynecology, with innovative educational programs, groundbreaking research initiatives and a robust clinical practice.

UAB Obstetrics and Gynecology has a rich history of clinical and translational research. As one of the few nationally ranked programs in the southeast, our patients enjoy access to cutting edge clinical trials and the latest advances in female reproductive healthcare. The department houses the Center for Women’s Reproductive Health, which facilitates women’s health research across the department, institution and around the globe.

Our department offers unsurpassed educational opportunities at all levels. Our highly competitive residency program attracts residents from across the nation, and we are proud to have strong fellowships in all of the traditional Obstetrics and Gynecology sub-specialties, as well as the emerging subspecialties of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Genetics.
