UWIRC Pilot Grants: Description and then 3 sections: "Archive", 'Current"; Planned
Description: The overall mission of the CWRH is to provide the most up-to-date and effective care to patients, to advance the scientific understanding of women’s health and to translate this new knowledge into improved diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, as well as educating our future. In pursuit of this mission to innovate and improve women’s reproductive health and consistent with UAB’s strategic plan, CWRH wishes to grow the volume and diversity of extramural funding and to accomplish this goal, we must maintain and continue to foster additional research funding opportunities. Multi-PI pilot grants will be made available per year to conduct research that generates preliminary data for future NIH applications. This will be complemented by the separate ObGyn-funded CWRH Pilot grant program for faculty and fellows in each ObGyn division who could partner with any CWRH affiliated investigator.

OBGYN Pilot Grants: Description and then 3 sections: "Archive", 'Current"; Planned
Description: The overall mission of the UAB OBGYN department is to provide the most up-to-date and effective care to patients, to advance the scientific understanding of women’s health and to translate this new knowledge into improved diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, as well as educating our future. In pursuit of this mission to innovate and improve women’s reproductive health, the OBGYN department wishes to maintain/improve its national NIH standings. This is a key metric of departmental performance in the UAB SOM. Over the past 10 years, UAB OBGYN has been ranked in the top 2 OBGYN departments nationally in terms of NIH funding for 7 years, and in the top 10 for 9 years. To accomplish this goal we must maintain and continue to foster additional research funding opportunities while investing in our faculty and divisions.
Therefore, up to $20,000 per year will be available to faculty or fellows working with faculty in each Division (i.e. up to 100,000 per year) in OB/GYN CWRH Research Pilot funds to conduct research that generates preliminary data for future NIH applications.
