We provide complete management of the complicated patient and are the major referral center for Alabama and the surrounding regions for these disorders.

The Rhinology and Sinus Surgery program has developed a productive basic science and translational research laboratory, led by Dr. Brad Woodworth, a fellowship-trained sinus surgeon with a strong translational focus on research to improve outcomes in patients suffering from sinusitis and other sinonasal disorders. He has produced over a hundred peer-reviewed publications in these areaa, and has obtained over $2m in research funding for these endeavors, including a prestigious R01 grant from the NIH. Basic research interests of the faculty include dysfunctional sinonasal epithelial ion transport, novel treatment strategies for chronic rhinosinusitis, and tobacco smoke-related effects on the mucociliary apparatus. Clinical research interests of the faculty include outcomes of complicated frontal sinus surgery, novel surgical methods to improve Cystic Fibrosis-related chronic sinusitis, and advanced techniques in skull base repair and tumor removal.
