Resident Scope 3 WEB

The UAB Department of Otolaryngology is passionate about mentoring and training the next generation of otolaryngologists.

Robust training for residents is provided in all aspects of the specialty, including head and neck oncology, rhinology, facial plastics and reconstructive surgery, laryngology, broncho-eschatology, pediatric otolaryngology, sleep medicine, and otology/neurotology. The program has one of the highest numbers of residency operative cases in the country. Recent graduates logged an average of over 3,000 cases during their residency. Strong basic, translational, and clinical research opportunities are available.

Residents are expected in their PGY 3-5 years to produce a paper for submission to a national meeting and to present at the Annual Residents’ Research Day. Last year's residents had a total of 21 publications and 20 presentations. Residents score above the national average on the annual OTE exam, and graduates have a 100% Board pass rate and placement in private or academic practice.
