By far, the people make Birmingham what it is. My wife and I love the slower pace of life after growing up in a larger city, and we enjoy how easy it is to get around.

The culture at UAB is collegial, focused on the learner, and devoted to world-class patient care. The faculty and residents support and lead the way in continuing the legacy of this culture, and this was a main reason why I wanted to train at UAB!

I knew during my medical school rotations that the ENT department was special, but I can truly say it was like no other. Attendings and residents alike are approachable, charismatic, and take pride in developing you as both a surgeon and person.

Great restaurants, breweries, and some nice outdoor areas a short drive away. Birmingham offers almost anything you could want from a bigger city, but is small enough that it still has the feel of a smaller city, which I think is a great balance.

Favorite Thing About UAB
The camaraderie among everyone in the department. Everyone from the interns to faculty members look out for one another and work well as a team. Plus, UAB gets an impressive amount of surgical volume which leads to excellent training opportunities.
