The Russell Cunningham Memorial Research Program is an eight-week summer internship and research program for first-year Heersink School of Medicine Students. Based on the applications, two students will be selected and will work with faculty mentors from the Department of Pediatrics. Faculty mentor responsibilities include:

Helping the student design a summer research project; and

Provide the student with clinical experience. This may include observation or participation in clinical activities (clinics or hospital rounds) or attendance at educational conferences.
Each student will receive $4,000; an additional $1,000 is available to cover costs of travel to present the research.
If you are a faculty member who is interested in mentoring a first year student or know of a first year student who would be interested in the program for summer 2022, please direct them to complete the application through the Medical Student Summer Research Program’s website. Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, April 4, 2022 by 5 p.m.
