PFLAG Birmingham- Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays
A non-profit charter of the National PFLAG organization. PFLAG Birmingham is working to keep families in loving relationships, by helping them affirm their gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender family members. Through their monthly peer-to-peer support group meetings PFLAG provides families in crisis with the accurate information and support they need to dispel the myths and stereotypes of sexual orientation and gender identity. ASSC- Alabama Safe Schools Coalition
Students in Alabama are not currently protected by existing policies from being discriminated against, harassed or bullied because they are or are perceived to be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.The ASSC is comprised of organizations and individuals committed to ensuring that Alabama schools are safe learning enviornments where all students are free from discrimination, harassment and violence.  Learn more : alabamasafeschools.org
