Samantha Simiele, Ph.D.The UAB Department of Radiation Oncology welcomed Samantha Simiele, Ph.D., as assistant professor in medical physics and chief of brachytherapy on Oct. 1, 2023. Simiele came to UAB from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where she was an assistant professor from 2019 to 2023.

Originally from Richland, Washington, Simiele earned her Bachelor of Science in Radiological Health Sciences from Purdue University. She went on to earn her master’s degree and doctorate in Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and completed her Medical Physics residency at the University of Michigan.

Her research interests are brachytherapy and brachytherapy education.
