Striving to enhance engagement and retention of underrepresented graduate trainees in the neurosciences
There is a deficit in diversity of talented trainees that leads to a lack of competitiveness and innovation in neuroscience research. The UAB Neuroscience Roadmap Scholars Program meets this need by providing the necessary tools to succeed with the support of the National Institues of Health (NINDS R25 NS089463) and the UAB Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

The Neuroscience Roadmap Scholars Program is meant to enhance and support the graduate experience, and the scholars' respective graduate program, throughout the span of their Ph.D. studies. This is accomplished through the implementation of bi-monthly lunch meetings, career coach mentoring, social and networking events, workshops and more.

The RMS Program is hurt and angered by the immensely troubling events happening across our nation. We express our support to all UAB and non-UAB RMS students during this time. Together we can strive for unity, equality, and justice both in our graduate programs and in our communities. We can be part of the conversation, speak the unsaid, and stand up for what is right. We will listen more and be united in the stand against racism, oppression, and inequality. Together we can hold ourselves accountable to drive positive change.
