The UAB Department of Surgery will now receive all IT support from HSIS effective Monday, September 17, 2018. For any technical support or service requests, faculty and staff should call the Help Desk at 934-8888 or email helpdesk@uabmc.edu.
Working with HSIS will provide the Department of Surgery with additional technical capabilities and services to better meet the IT needs of faculty and staff. This includes:
- A team of experienced support specialists who are already distributed throughout campus in order to service desktops efficiently
- Centralized, remote anti-virus and patch management on a regular upgrade schedule
- Server virtualization within the UAB Health System data center, as well as enhanced data backup solutions
- Streamlined IT processes through consolidation into two domains (UAB Health System and Children’s of Alabama)
- Single sign-on capability
- Replacement or upgrade of computers that do not meet Windows 10 requirements
