UAB biomedical sciences Ph.D. candidate Rachael Guenter recently won for her oral research presentation at the American Institute of Chemical Engineers Division 15 competition at the 2019 AIChE Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida, Nov 10-15.

According to the AIChE, the institute is the world’s leading organization for chemical engineering professionals and boasts more than 60,000 members. Its annual meeting is an educational forum for chemical engineers interested in innovation and professional growth.

A mentee in the lab of UAB Department of Surgery Chair Herb Chen M.D., Guenter presented her project, “Novel anti-SSTR2 antibody-targeted therapy for neuroendocrine cancer,” during the conference on Nov. 10. The study upon which Guenter’s research was based sought to generate a novel targeted therapy for the treatment of neuroendocrine cancer.

Next year’s AIChe annual meeting will take place Nov. 15-20, 2020, in San Francisco, California.
