UAB Department of Surgery Professor John Holcomb, M.D., FACS, has accepted a two-year appointment to the editorial board of The Society of Federal Health Professionals (AMSUS) journal Military Medicine. Before joining the Division of Acute Care Surgery in Sept. 2019, Holcomb served for 23 years in the Army.

As an editorial board member, Holcomb will assist the editor and publisher of the journal in representing the interests of the journal’s readership and serving as an essential element in contributing to and informing the future course of the journal. Holcomb will also serve as a peer reviewer.

Holcomb is pleased to represent the department and the Division of Acute Care Surgery through this national publication.

“It is certainly an honor to support the journal as an editorial board member,” said Holcomb. “I look forward to promoting a scientific forum and the sharing of research and knowledge to better equip decision-makers in the realm of federal healthcare.”

Military Medicine is the official international journal of AMSUS. Articles published in the journal are peer-reviewed scientific papers, case reports, and editorials. The journal also publishes letters to the editor. It is currently under the leadership of its Editor-in-Chief Stephen W. Rothwell Ph.D.
